WHAT HAPPENED?
After being crowned The Best male player in the world at the FIFA awards ceremony on Monday, the voting patterns of the Argentine were revealed to the public. As the captain of his nation, he shared love to international teammate Julian Alvarez, who he voted third in the running. One and two, however, were a different story.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Former teammate of Messi's at PSG, Kylian Mbappe, was given the nod at number two – but the individual he voted for to win the award was none other than Alvarez's teammate, Erling Haaland. The Norwegian goal machine won the treble in 2023, claiming the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
